The Gadag district administration has warned individuals involved in the sale and use of national flags made of plastic on Independence Day.
Sundresh Babu, Deputy Commissioner of Gadag, stated in a statement that the Ministry of Home Affairs has prohibited the usage of plastic national flags at national, sporting, or cultural events.
The ministry discovered that national flags made of plastic were being used instead of cloth or paper flags. Because plastic flags are not biodegradable like paper flags, they take a long time to degrade, therefore ensuring proper disposal of national flags made of plastic with dignity is a practical issue.
He said cases would be booked against those who sell and use flags made of plastic under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and the Flag Code of India, 2002.
