Digital Initiative: Hand-Held Terminal Replaces Manual Paper Charts

Hubballi: As part of digital Initiative, Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi  Division, distributed 41 Hand-Held Terminals (HHT) to Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) of Hubballi Division today on  22.07.2022.   Santosh Kumar Verma, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and Smt. Harietha S., Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Co-ordination) were present.

These HHTs will be introduced with immediate effect in 4 pairs of trains viz., T.No.16589/16590 Bengaluru-Miraj-Bengaluru Rani Chennamma Express, T. No.17309/17310 Yesvantpur-Vasco Da Gama-Yesvantpur Express, T. No.16543/16544 Yesvantpur-SSS Hubballi- Yesvantpur Express, T. No.20653/20654 KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi-KSR Bengaluru  Express over Hubballi Division.

HHT which replaces manual paper charts, is a network connected device to ease the train ticket-checking on-board.  On-duty TTEs can download the working chart on board using the terminal.  Connected to the Passenger Reservation System through networking, the HHT facilitates updating cancellations of tickets, not joining of passengers, clearance of RAC etc. in the system.  It will enable the better utilization of seats and berths on-board and bring more transparency into the system.

Arvind Malkhede said that use of HHTs will benefit passengers as it ensures prompt allotment of vacant berths in the course of their journey.  Real-time charting will ensure greater transparency in allotment of berths.  It will ensure better productivity norms amongst Travelling Ticket Examiners as the process of ticket checking will get simplified considerably.  Introduction of HHT is environment friendly as it is a paperless initiative.
