Dharwad: Five people, including a child, were killed and four suffered injuries after a car rammed a truck from behind near Garag village on Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as Nagappa Irappa Muddoji, 29, Mahantesh Basappa Muddoji, 40, a resident of Avaradi village; Basavaraj Shivaputrappa Naragund, 35; Srikumar Nargund, 5; Nichhanaki village; and Iranna Gurusiddappa Ramangoudar, 35, a native of Hebballi.
The injured have been identified as Shravankumar Basavaraj Nargund, 7, Madiavalappa Raju Alnavar, 22, both admitted at KIMS, Prakashgouda Shankargouda Patil, 22, and Manjunath Mahantesh Muddoji, 22, both admitted at the district hospital in Dharwad.
Police said that a Fiat Punto that was going towards Dharwad rammed a truck that was also going towards Dharwad. It is said that the driver of the car tried to avoid hitting a pedestrian and hit the truck. In the accident, pedestrian Iranna Ramangoudar also died.
More details about the accident are yet to be available.
