
Dharwad: A first-division clerk attached to the Public Works Department in Dharwad was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta Police on Friday while accepting a bribe from a contractor, said the officers.
The Lokayukta police caught Revanasiddappa Goudannavar red handed. He was employed at the PWD Superintendent Engineer office in Dharwad.The Lokayukta police said that the accused had placed a demand for Rs 3,500 in bribe for issuing a contractor permission certificate to Shivaprasad Lingappa Hottin, a civil contractor from Dharwad.

The contractor had registered a complaint with the Lokayukta police against the FDA. The police team, under the guidance and leadership of DySPs HK Pathan and Vijay Biradar, and Inspector Basavaraj Avati, nabbed the accused while accepting the bribe on February 8.
The accused was produced before the judge and was sent to judicial custody. The police team is investigating the case.
