DHARWAD: If you are a lady who walks alone most of the time, this story is for you. Recently, an 80-year-old lady lost her gold chain, weighing about 15 grammes and worth Rs 75,000, to a bike-borne miscreant.
According to the police, on December 4, Yallavva Yallappa Javoor, a resident of Kurbagatti village in Dharwad taluk was on her way to Sai Aranya Kalyan Mantap from Narendra Cross to attend a marriage ceremony. While she was on her way, a man approached her and offered her a ride to the marriage hall. The lady rode a pillion all the way to the hall. After alighting at the hall, the man looking at her golden chain said he was also planning to gift a similar gold chain to her wife and wanted a photograph of the chain so that he could order the same design. He asked her to give it to him so that he could take a photo of the chain. The lady believed his words and gave the chain to him. As soon as she handed it to him, he vanished.
The lady went to Dharwad Rural Police and reported the incident.
