Dharwad: A 58-year-old woman was found dead on the outskirts of Uppin Betageri village on Tuesday morning with dog bite injuries.
The lady has been identified as Mabubi Dilawarsab Nadaf, a resident of Kotabagi village, said Garag police. The police said that the woman was suffering from mental illness and used to go out of the house for days and return on her own. And she went out of the house on Monday evening also, they said.
When the villagers noticed the lady surrounded by a pack of dogs around 7 a.m. near KEB grid located on the outskirts of the village, they called the police, and PSI FM Mantur and his team rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem. But it is not yet clear whether the dogs mauled her while she was fast asleep or dragged her body after her death. A post-mortem may throw light on this, said PSI Garag station MA Sattigoudar.
The police have registered a case in this regard, and an investigation is going on.
