Dharwad: Advocate loses money to cyber criminals


Dharwad: A city-based advocate has lost Rs 49,900 to cybercriminals recently. The advocate, who is a resident of Sadhankeri, received a message on his mobile from an unknown number saying that his house’s electricity connection would be disconnected as the electricity bill was pending. The advocate believed the message and dialled the number mentioned in the message. The man asked the advocate to pay Rs 10 in order to avoid the electricity disconnection.

Later, the miscreants made the advocate download the Quick Support App and made him fill in his debit card details on the Quick Support App. As soon as he filled in the details, Rs 49,900 was debited from his Union Bank of India bank account. The victim approached cybercrime police and registered a case.
