Dharwad: The state government has launched its ambitious self-defence training for girl students staying in government hostels attached to the Backward Classes and the Social Welfare department will learn the art of self defencing. In the Dharwad district, as many as 4,472 girl students will receive the training, said Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil.
He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the programme in the city on Tuesday, he said that the training would increase courage and boost self-confidence among the girl students.
Obavva Art of Self-Defence Training has been launched in the state and this training programme would be for six months and the students would get training from their trainers every day, he said.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Suresh Itnal, HDMC Commissioner Dr. Gopal Krishna B, Karnatak University Vice-Chancellor Prof. KB Gudasi, DySP Chandrashekhar Pujar, and others were present.
