The much-awaited general elections for the state assembly will be held tomorrow (Wednesday), and the Election Commission is leaving no stone unturned to ensure smooth and fair elections. With a whopping 58545 polling booths being set up across 224 assembly constituencies, the stage is all set for the citizens to exercise their right to vote.
Ensuring the safety and security of the voters is of utmost importance, and the state police personnel, along with central reserve forces, will be deployed in sensitive and ultra-sensitive polling stations. Extensive security arrangements will also be undertaken in sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring, said the sources.
A total of 2,615 candidates, including 184 women, are in the fray across the 224 assembly constituencies. The candidates have been working hard to connect with the voters and convey their vision for the development of the state.
The Election Commission has also taken steps to ensure that all eligible citizens can exercise their right to vote without any hindrance. With 5,31, 33,054 voters eligible to vote, the Election Commission has made arrangements to ensure that the polling process is smooth and hassle-free.
