New Delhi: Last night, four people were killed after being run over by a speeding truck while sleeping on a road divider in northeast Delhi. According to police, two other people were injured in the incident, which occurred at 1.51 a.m. near the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus depot in the Seemapuri area.
Chhote Khan, 25, Kareem, 52, Rahu, 45, and Shah Alam, 38 were the deceased. The injured have been identified as Pradeep, 30 and Manish 16.
Police said that two of the six victims died on the spot, the remaining were rushed to the GTB hospital. Deputy Commissioner of Police R Sathiyasundaram said that one of them was declared dead and another died during treatment.
According to the local sources, the truck was heading towards DLF T-point when the incident happened. Rash and negligent driving is said to be the reason, said the police. Special teams have been formed to nab the truck driver who fled the scene with the truck after the incident, said the police.
