Decision on renaming Mumbai Karnataka region will be taken at cabinet meeting: CM Bommai

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated that a decision on renaming the Mumbai Karnataka region as Kittur Karnataka would be made at the cabinet meeting.

Speaking to the media this morning at Inspection Bungalow in Belagavi, the CM stated that he will be in the Belagavi district on October 23 to participate in Kittur Utsav. Reporters questioned him whether the government would announce the Mumbai Karnataka region as Kittur Karnataka. According to the CM, this decision must be taken in the cabinet meeting.

The CM also stated that a decision on permitting Kannada organisations to take out a grand procession In Belagavi on the occasion of Kannada Rajotasava will be made and that he would discuss this with the Deputy Commissioner.

“Basically, it’s a Covid situation,” he added, “and we haven’t made any decision on permitting processions; the experts will decide.” The CM said he would return to Bengaluru today morning and would be back to Hangal by afternoon and take part in the party candidates election campaign.

Bommai said he would campaign for the party candidate in Hangal constituency tomorrow and the day after tomorrow as well.
