Dandeli: A man was dragged by a crocodile while he was having a bath in the Kali river on Thursday morning. The incident happened in Dandeli town of Uttar Kannada.
The man has been identified as Pitambari Das, a native of Gujarat but was staying with his family for the last few years, said sources. The incident happened near Ishwar temple on Kulagi Road in the town. According to the locals, Das went to have a bath in the river when this incident happened. Locals saw Das being dragged by two crocodiles, said the police.
Police and rescue teams are searching for the missing man. In Dandeli, the incidents of crocodiles attacking humans happen often, the forest department has been creating awareness about the risks of venturing into the river and it is said that the department fences river banks in prominent areas despite this the locals are falling prey to these predators.
