New Delhi: Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Dilip Vengsarkar embarked on a trip to Varanasi for the momentous groundbreaking ceremony of a brand-new international cricket stadium in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
This stadium, which will be the third of its kind in Uttar Pradesh after those in Kanpur and Lucknow, holds great significance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the event, symbolizing the initiation of the construction process for the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other distinguished dignitaries are also expected to be in attendance.
For the construction of this prestigious stadium, the Uttar Pradesh government has allocated a substantial budget of Rs 121 crores for land acquisition. Furthermore, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will make a substantial investment of Rs 330 crores in this ambitious project.
The stadium’s architectural design takes inspiration from Lord Shiva, incorporating unique elements such as crescent-shaped roof covers, trident-shaped floodlights, seating resembling ghat steps, and Bilvipatra-shaped metallic sheets on the facade. Anticipated to accommodate 30,000 spectators.
