Ballari: A COVID cluster case was reported from Ballari’s Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, with 21 medical students testing positive for the novel coronavirus infection.
Deputy Commissioner Pavankumar Malapati visited the VIMS and said 4–5 students have mild symptoms and they are all quarantined, and the two hostels where the Covid cases were reported were sealed down.
He said a student who returned from Bengaluru had developed symptoms and when tested positive, the hospital took the swabs of his primary contacts, of which 21 students tested positive for the infection, he said.
The hospital authority said the primary contacts of the infected students will give their samples for testing of COVID infection today. The cases are likely to go up, they said.
