Hubballi: Congress party members staged a protest and gheraoed the BJP office located in Deshpande Nagar on Saturday, demanding Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K S Eshwarappa to be dropped from the cabinet and demanding strict action against BJP legislator Basangouda Patil Yatna for his disrespectful comments against AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
Protesters raised slogans against Eshwarappa, claiming that he has lost his mental balance and that is why he made a statement against the national flag. The protesters demanded that Chief Minister Bommai remove him from the cabinet for his statement against the national flag and that he should be booked under sedition charges. The protesters demanded action against Yatnal also.
The protesters burned the effigy of the minister, and later the protesters tried to enter the BJP office, but police prevented them.
State Youth Congress secretary, Akash Koneri, Vidyanagar Block Congress president Rajat Ullagaddimath, Sharif Garagad, Santosh Nayak, Chetan Patil, Abu Bijapur, Wasim Hukkeri, Arif Bhadrapur, Iqbal Navalur, and others were present.
The protest was organized by Youth Congress based on the call given by Youth Congress president Mohammed Haris Nalpad.
