UDUPI: With the May 10 Assembly polls in Karnataka fast approaching, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has unveiled the party’s fifth “guarantee” aimed at securing support from the people. During his campaign in Udupi, Gandhi promised free travel for women on public transport buses if the Congress comes to power in the state.
This latest pledge follows a string of other bold promises made by the Congress in recent weeks, including 200 units of free electricity for every household, Rs 2,000 for women who are heads of their households, 10 kgs of free rice for BPL cardholders, and Rs 3,000 per month for graduate youth and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders between the ages of 18 and 25 for a two-year period.
Gandhi assured the people of Karnataka that the party will immediately implement the fifth guarantee on its very first day in power, providing free travel to women on public transport buses across the state. The Congress hopes that these assurances will help sway voters in its favor as the election draws near.
