To press the state government to immediately take-up the works related to Mekedatu project, the Congress party will takeout a Padayatra from Mekedatu to Bengaluru from January 9, said Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah.
He said that there were no legal hurdles to implement the project, this despite this the state government is making unnecessary delay in implanting this project, alleged Siddaramaiah.
He said, the Padayatra is not organized from the party. It was organized in the interest of the people of the state. He requested members attached unions, association and organization go take part in the march in large numbers.
Around 30 percent of Bengaluru residents are deprived of Cauvery water, around 2.5 crore people of 10 districts including Bengalurians would be benefitted by this project, hence it was our demand that the state government should takeup the work immediately, said Siddaramaiah.
