The Congress has announced that the party will resume the “Namma Neeru, Namma Hakku” (our water, our right) padayatra demanding implementation of the Mekedatu project from February 27.
The Padayatra, which was suspended following a surge in COVID cases last month, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah announced that the rally will resume in Ramanagara district on February 27 and conclude in Bengaluru on March 3.
The 100 kilometre long Padayatra from Sangam to Bengaluru was kicked off on January 9, Congress party leaders had covered around 60 km by walk, and the state issued orders restricting gatherings following a steep increase in COVID cases. The Congress party temporarily called off the Padayatra.
