Hubballi, By Hubli Express News: Noted advocate and Congress leader, Mohan Limbikai, has been tasked with laying the groundwork for his potential candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on behalf of the Congress party.
In an exclusive interview with the Hubli Express, Mohan Limbikai revealed that he recently had a meeting at the invitation of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar at his residence in Bengaluru. During this meeting, KPCC President DK Shivakumar urged Limbikai to commence preparations for a potential run in the parliamentary elections, indicating that the party was considering him as a potential candidate.
Limbikai disclosed that Shivakumar expressed the party’s seriousness about his candidature and advised him to engage with all the MLAs, other elected representatives, and party members within the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency as an initial step in his preparation.
The accomplished advocate and former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) noted that he has already held meetings with all the MLAs representing the constituency and intends to meet other party leaders in due course. During his half-hour discussion with Shivakumar, they explored matters related to strengthening the party and strategizing for the parliamentary election. Business magnate UB Shetty was also in attendance during this meeting.
Limbikai emphasized his deep-rooted connections with the constituents, having previously served as an MLC from the area and maintaining active ties with the local population. He indicated that his formal preparations would commence after September 30, and if the opportunity arises, he would certainly contest as the party’s candidate.
It’s important to note that while DK Shivakumar has encouraged preparations, it has not been definitively decided that Limbikai will be the candidate. However, the party is taking his potential candidacy into serious consideration.
Mohan Limbikai is a renowned advocate in the region, having handled numerous high-profile cases. He also served as an MLC and acted as a legal advisor to former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. Although he was once a close confidant of Yediyurappa, he parted ways with the BJP during the last Assembly election due to disagreements and subsequently joined the Congress party. Limbikai was also a strong contender for the Hubballi-Dharwad (West) constituency in the Assembly election, but the party ultimately nominated Deepak Chinchore as its candidate.
