Hubballi: A day after, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) veteran leader, BS Yediyurappa, claimed that former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar would not win the Hubballi-Dharwad Central assembly constituency, even going so far as to pledge to give this in writing with his own blood.
Congress party’s sharp reaction
In a sharp response, Manjunath Yentruvi, a Congress youth leader and president of the Taluk Youth Unit of Akhil Bharat Veerashaiva Mahasabha, has written a letter in his own blood, declaring that Shettar will win. Yentruvi, who is also the party’s general secretary of the Dharwad district youth unit, expressed his belief that the community stands firmly behind Shettar, and that he will emerge victorious with a record margin.
Yentruvi further claimed that the BJP would pay for its betrayal and for expelling Shettar from the party. Yediyurappa had recently convened a meeting of Veerashaiva Lingayats, requesting them not to vote for Shettar, who he accused of defecting to the opposition party.
The stage is now set for a tense battle between the BJP and Congress in the Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency, with the outcome likely to have wider implications for the political landscape in Karnataka. As the election draws near, all eyes will be on the candidates and their supporters, who are sure to leave no stone unturned in their quest for victory.
