Bengaluru: A delegation of Congress party leaders from Maddur in Mandya district met KPCC President DK Shivakumar at his residence and requested him to contest the next Assembly election from Maddur Assembly constituency.

The delegation led by Kadaluru Ramakrishna met the leader; he said anyone from Kanakapura would win the election with ease, and if Shivakumar decides to contest the election from Maddur, which former CM SM Krishna used to represent, that will give a boost to the morale of the party men.

His presence in the election will have an impact on the entire old Mysuru region, and leaders and party workers will fight the election with vigour, he said, adding that all seven constituencies in Mandya district can win because of his presence.

The leader claimed that he would think and take a decision and convey it in 2–3 days. The delegation said that DK Shivakumar enjoys a special bond with the people of Maddur, as he used to visit frequently when SM Krishna was the chief minister.
