Hubballi: The Congress party has released its third list of candidates for the upcoming assembly election, but surprisingly, the ticket for Hubballi central constituency has not been announced yet. Speculation is rife that former Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar may join the Congress if denied a ticket by the BJP.
But Shettar said no one from other political parties contacted him so far. And he so far has not clearly stated his intention of joining other political parties.
In the meantime, Shettar has called for a meeting of his supporters and well-wishers at his residence to discuss the next course of action. During the meeting, his supporters expressed unwavering support for him, regardless of his decision. Shettar has stated that he will wait until the evening, expressing confidence that the BJP will eventually announce him as the candidate. However, his close aides revealed Shettar is prepared to make his own decision, irrespective of the BJP’s choice.
The Congress party released its third list of candidates for the upcoming elections. However, to the surprise of many, they did not announce a candidate for the Hubballi Central constituency. Laxman Savadi, who had recently quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined the Congress, was given a ticket to contest from Athani assembly seat.
In addition to this, the party also announced NH Konaraddi as their candidate from Navalgund, and Kusumavathi Shivalli from Kundagol. However, they did not announce a candidate for Hubballi-Dharwad (West) constituency.
Furthermore, Siddaramaiah, who was rumored to be considering contesting from Kolar, did not receive the ticket. Instead, Kothur G Manjunath was fielded as the party’s candidate for that seat. The developments in the candidate list have generated significant interest and speculation in the political circles of Karnataka.
