Hubballi: In a bid to put pressure on the Congress leadership, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress party members of the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) have announced a Padayatra in the city on May 24. The purpose of the Padayatra is to demand a ministerial berth for MLA Prasad Abbayya.
The Padayatra will be led by Dooraj Mannikuntal, the Leader of the Opposition in the HDMC. It will commence from Dr. BR Ambedkar Circle at 12 PM and culminate at the Rani Chennamma Circle.
The party leaders have urged Congress workers and supporters of MLA Prasad Abbayya to participate in large numbers in this event. Prasad Abbayya, who secured a hat-trick victory from the Hubballi-Dharwad (East) constituency, defeated BJP candidate Dr. Krantikiran by a significant margin of over 34,000 votes.
