Hubballi: Congress corporators have decided not to attend President Murmu’s civic honour programme organised by the HDMC on Monday.
At an emergency late-night press conference, the council’s Leader of the Opposition, Doraju Mannikuntla, told reporters that the programme had turned into a BJP programme rather than an HDMC program, and that Congress party corporators had been overlooked in the event’s planning. They ignored the main opposition party and did not take them into confidence.
The Mayor had said that he would form separate committees involving all the corporators for the success of the programme, but he did not do it, and at last we came to know that they had no opportunity to pose for a group photo with the president. The BJP made unnecessary expenditures in the name of a programme, he alleged, and said that they were even ignored in the programme advertisement.
HDMC corporators Imran Yaligar, Arif Bhadrapur, Senthil Kumar, Iliyas Maniyar, Iqbal Navalur, Prakash Burbure, Congress city district president Altaf Hallur and others were present.
