Senior Congress leader, former Union Minister CM Ibrahim resigned to the primary membership of the Congress party. The news was doing rounds in this regard for the last few days and on Saturday, he put an end to all the news doing rounds regarding him not continuing in the grand old party.
Ibrahim, who is a member of the Legislative Council, was upset following the appointment of former MP B K Hariprasad as the leader of the party in the Legislative Council. It is said that Ibrahim was eyeing this post and was expecting Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah’s support.
Ibrahim’s decision came as a big blow to the Congress party, after its debacle in the recently concluded five states’ Assembly election. He sent the resignation letter to the party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi.
“ I have resigned from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect,” Ibrahim says in the letter.
He said he was upset following the appointment of BK Hariprasad as the LoP in the council. He said that he was upset with a few developments in the party. He also submitted resignation to his MLC post through Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Siddaramaih, he said in the letter.
