New Delhi: Chief Minister Basavaraja S. Bommai spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today about a variety of issues of the state.
The Chief Minister requested that the Prime Minister sanction an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for Hubballi-Dharwad and an AIIMS-like institute for Raichur, which NITI Aayog has designated as an aspirational district. He also requested that the Prime Minister elevate ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Kalaburagi to the status of a Regional AIIMS-like Institute.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister pledged his entire support for the State’s growth.
If the Prime Minister grants the Chief Minister’s proposal to build an AIIMS in Hubballi-Dharwad, another long-pending demand of the people of this region would be met.
At present, the state-run Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) is regarded as the largest hospital in north Karnataka, with patients referred from all districts in the state. KIMS refers a few patients to several government hospitals in Bengaluru due to a lack of expertise and advanced machines. According to a doctor, if AIIMS is constructed here, all types of medical services would be available to the people in this region.
“AIIMS is unquestionably necessary for Huballi, as it improves healthcare facilities. AIIMS will provide new possibilities for doctors and medical students, it will act as a catalyst to improve many other sectors. It causes a surge in all industries “one of the doctors remarked.
The Dharwad district administration has already earmarked three locations to establish a premier health institute.
