Hubballi: The north interior parts of Karnataka are likely to experience continued cloudy weather with minimal chances of rain in the coming days. After enduring heavy rains for the past eight-nine days, the region finally received some relief on Friday, as there was either no rain or very light rainfall in certain areas. The continuous downpours had disrupted the daily routines of the people in the region.

According to Dr. RH Patil, the Principal Nodal Officer of GKMS Unit, in the last 24 hours, some areas in the coastal and Western Ghat region received slight rainfall, but most of the area remained dry. Over the next five days, the western ghat and coastal regions are expected to stay cloudy, with only very little rain predicted (approximately 5-15 mm).

Dr. Patil mentioned that the border areas of Malenadu are likely to remain cloudy, and the chances of rain are highly unlikely. If there are any showers, the area may receive a maximum of 3 to 5 mm of rain. On July 30 and 31, places like Bidar, Kalaburgi, Yadgir, and the western parts of Vijayapura may experience light rains in the range of 5-10 mm per day.

During the period from July 1 to July 28, all the districts in NIK received higher-than-average rainfall, ranging from 64% to 130% above normal levels. The showers in July have effectively compensated for the previously observed rainfall deficits in May and June. As a result, nine districts have now received normal levels of rainfall, while four districts—Dharwad, Haveri, Bidar, and Kalaburgi—have surpassed the usual rainfall.
