New Delhi, May 16 (HS): The round of continuous meetings is going on in the Congress regarding the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. After the party got an absolute majority in Karnataka, meetings are going on from Bengaluru to Delhi.
This morning (Tuesday), the newly elected Karnataka Congress MLAs reached the Delhi residence of the party’s National President Mallikarjun Kharge. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is also present here along with senior Congress leaders.
Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have also been summoned to Delhi. It is believed that today the name of the Chief Minister of Karnataka will be announced in the presence of the party president.
Before leaving for Delhi, Shivkumar while talking to the media said that he is standing with the party. He had said that the number of Congress MLAs in Karnataka is 135. We are all one.
Sources say that Siddaramaiah has suggested to the Congress high command that he should be made the chief minister for the first two years and DK Shivakumar should be given a chance for three years. However, the final decision has been left by all the leaders to the party president. A resolution in this regard was passed by the newly elected Karnataka Congress MLAs.
