The event will see the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who will inaugurate the Krishi Mela on September 9th. Joining him will be Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, District in Charge Minister Santosh Lad, and Agriculture Minister Chaluvaraya Swamy. MLA Vinay Kulkarni will preside over.
Dr. P. L. Patil, Vice Chancellor of the University, announced during a press briefing that this year’s theme for Krishi Mela is “Millets for Sustainable Agriculture.” Anticipating an audience of around 15 lakh farmers, farm women, and volunteers over the four-day event, he emphasized the focus on organic farming, millet production, value addition, and millet market.
The Krishi Mela will feature displays of various researched millet varieties and the dissemination of information on new agricultural technologies, Rabi crop cultivation techniques, the use of Kisan Drones, drought management strategies, dryland farming, soil health improvement, water literacy, and water conservation methods.
