
Dharwad: Channabasava Swamiji, of the historical Garag Madivaleshwar Kalmath of Dharwad taluk, passed away on Sunday morning.
Swamiji was 88 years old. Swamiji had been suffering from age-related ailments for the past few days. The funeral of the Swamiji will be held tomorrow, Monday, at 12 p.m. in the premises of the Shrimath of Garaga village, according to sources, who added that pontiffs of various mutts and elected representatives will attend his funeral.
Channabasava Swamiji, who was in charge of the Kalmath, worked for the development of the Math. The swamiji was well-known for his social services, and he worked tirelessly for societal prosperity by emphasizing food donation and education.
Preparation for Public Darshan
Under the supervision of Dharwad MLA Amrut Desai and the working president of the Math Ashoka Desai, all preparations are being made for the final darshan of the Swamiji. Devotees will be allowed to offer final respect to the departed soul from 12.30 p.m. to 7 a.m. tomorrow.
Tomorrow, Monday (February 12), at 7.30 a.m., Swamiji’s funeral procession will leave Hangaraki village and pass through Garag village. Later, the funeral will be held with all the rites on the premises of the Sri Math.
