Case Registered Against a Koppal Man for Giving Instant Triple Talaq to his wife

Koppal police have filed a case against a man for allegedly giving his wife instant triple talaq, said Superintendent of Police Arunangshu Giri on Monday.

The victim is 29, a resident of Marishantaveer Nagar in Koppal, and a native of Gajendragad, according to the police. On September 15, her husband allegedly gave her instant Talaq.

According to the police, the victim filed a domestic violence case at the Women’s Police Station in 2021 against her husband Syed Wahid Attar and his family. The case is being argued at a court in Koppal, and the incident occurred while the victim was on her way to court with her father.

According to the police, on that day, the accused allegedly stopped the victim at the court’s gate and informed her he was marrying someone as per the law of shariah and that she had no relationship with him. According to police, he threatened her life and said “Talaq” three times before leaving.

The victim filed a complaint against her husband at the Women’s Police Station regarding the instant ‘Talaq.’

According to the SP, a case has been filed against him under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019. And it is the district’s first case filed under the Act, he added. The investigation has begun, and action will be taken, said SP.
