Case booked against eight persons for brandishing swords during a rally in Ballari.

Ballari police have arrested eight persons for allegedly brandishing swords during a procession in Ballari city on Saturday.

The police said on Saturday afternoon that on Municipal College Road, around 25-30 people took part in a procession displaying swords and other lethal weapons despite knowing that the administration had imposed prohibitory orders on that road.

The police have identified eight of those who were part of the procession and have booked a case against them under 143, 153 (aa), and 149 of the IPC.

The accused are Gadilinga, Santosh, both residents of Vaddarbandi, Balaji, Vinay, both residents of Millerpet, Suri, a resident of the Market area, Rahul, a resident of Cowl Bazaar, Shivaram from Kurnool, and Vidyanagar resident Shridhar.

Sources said that the accused were part of the Shivaji Jayanti procession.
