
Nagpur: India won the first test against Australia in the four-match series at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium (VCAS) in Nagpur. India won the match by an innings and 132 runs.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat, and the guests were all out for just 177 runs on board. In the first innings, Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets, and he was equally supported by Ravichandran Ashwin, the spinner, who took three wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Shami took one wicket each.
With the help of Rohit Sharma’s 120 and Axar Patel’s 84 runs, India put a total of 400 all out, and the hosts took the first innings lead of 223 runs. Australia’s second innings got off to a shaky start.The visitors lost their first two batsmen with just 26 runs on the board.
The visitors lost the wicket in quick sessions, and they were bowled out for just 91 runs. In the second innings, R Ashwin took five wickets for Australia. In the second innings, Steven Smith was the highest scorer; he scored 25 runs in 51 balls.
The second test match will begin on February 17 at the Arun Jaitely stadium in Delhi.
