Bengaluru, 14 May (HS): Outgoing Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has admitted that anti-incumbency was a factor in the BJP’s defeat in the state.
He said that, among other things, anti-incumbency played a significant role in the saffron party’s defeat in Karnataka. He further stated that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot be considered defeated because he is not limited to Karnataka and had only come for campaigning. Congress’ leadership has failed in the entire nation; they won in this state but lost in the entire nation,” he added.
Winning merely one state cannot be regarded a success for them at the national level, he stated. “Anti-incumbency in certain constituencies is also a reason,” he explained, “so we decided to analyze these constituencies.”
