Ballari: CID Forest Mobile Squad arrested two men for illegally trying to sell blackbuck skin, its skull, horns, pangolin’s scales, and bones.
The team, led by PSI Maruti SV, guided by Inspector Muttanna Saravagol, nabbed the accused. They were arrested near Veerabhadreshwar temple on Halakundi main road on the outskirts of Ballari city. According to one of the officers, the accused, H K Veeresh of Sandur and Hulikunteppa of Gudekote in Vijayanagar district, were carrying the skin, horns, and scales of the animal and intended to sell them.
According to the sources, pangolin’s scales are high in demand. They are used in making ornaments and traditional Chinese medicine, although there is no evidence that they help with some ailments.
