Hubballi: After Remdesvir, the miscreants have started black-marketing the much needed antifungal drug Amphotericin B which is needed to treat black fungus-infected patients.
The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have nabbed three men who were allegedly selling the high demand drug near KIMS Hospital in Vidyanagar.
The CCB sleuths caught these accused red-handed when they were trying to sell the drug to a black fungus affected patient’s attendee, the sources said.
Because of the sudden rise in the black fungus cases among recovered Covid patients, the much tried and tested antifungal injection Amphotericin B is in great demand now. And the patients’ relatives and friends are frantically searching for this drug as the drug is not available in the open market and the government is regulating its supply.
The miscreants’ mis using this opportunity to make quick money.
As per the initial information, the accused are a ward boy of a hospital, a PRO of a private hospital and a staff of a medical store, they are all residents of Hubballi, said a source.
The source added the accused were used to sell the drug at an exorbitant price, each vial of Amphotericin B costs Rs 7,000 but they were selling it at Rs 20,000. The CCB police have secured five vials of the drug.
They handed over the accused to the Vidyanagar police and a case against them registered. More details are awaited.
