Bengaluru: Laxman Savadi, the former deputy chief minister of Karnataka, has announced that he is severing all ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After submitting his resignation to the party and his post as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Savadi stated that he has no further connection with the BJP.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Friday evening, Savadi revealed that he would symbolically join the Congress later that evening.
To a statement by Arun Singh, BJP general secretary, that the party’s doors are closed to him. Savadi clarified that he has no intention of returning to the BJP, as the party failed to keep its promise of granting him a ticket for the upcoming elections.
Laxman Savadi also said that he did not place any demands before Congress leaders for joining the party, but Congress offered him a ticket to contest the election from Athani state.
