Hubballi: Former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mohan Limbikai, joined the Indian National Congress on Thursday in Belagavi.
He joined the party in the presence of senior Congress leaders such as Randeep Surjewala, DK Shivakumar, and Siddaramaiah.
Mohan Limbikai, who was upset with the BJP for not giving him opportunities and not giving him responsibilities, had maintained a distance from the party. His plan of contesting the MLC election was marred after senior legislator Horatti joined the BJP.
It is a big jolt for the BJP as Limbikai deserted the party as the state is heading for assembly elections. He is known as the close aide of former CM BS Yediyurappa and was his legal advisor when he was chief minister. It is said that Limbikai may get the Congress party ticket to contest from the Hubballi-Dharwad (West) constituency.
