Hubballi: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party conducted a mock funeral of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in the city, condemning the breach of security in the prime minister’s convoy during his visit to Punjab on Wednesday.
The protest was organized by the BJP East Morcha. The protesters raised slogans against Channi, and they took out a final journey of Channi on Karwar Road and burned his effigy.
The protesters tried to picket the Congress office on Karwar and they even tried to deface the banners erected in front of the Congress office, but police prevented them.
New President Kapatkar arrived late.
The protesters, after burning the effigy, dispersed on their own, but the newly appointed Dharwad district BJP president, Sanjay Kapatkar, arrived late to the spot. He, along with a handful of protesters, staged one more round of protest for the sake of photographs. As soon as they got enough photos, they left the spot.
