After Hubballi-Dharwad (West) MLA Arvind Bellad, who was competing for CM’s post, was unable to even make it to CM Basavaraj Bommai’s cabinet, Dharwad district politics has taken a new turn.
A person claiming to be a BJP worker tore down posters welcoming new minister Shankar Patil Munenkoppa in Dharwad, claiming that the banners lacked a photograph of district president and MLA Arvind Bellad.
This incident demonstrates that everything is not well in the Dharwad district BJP, particularly among the leaders, who have recently acquired grudges against one another.
The leaders’ unity, which appeared to be strong, is gradually fading, and the leaders are establishing their own domains. MLA Bellad, for example, desired dominance in the Hubballi-Dharwad (West) Assembly segment, and he is now avoiding Jagadish Shettar and attempting to present himself as an independent leader.
He and Jagadish Shettar separated, and after Bellad was not appointed to the cabinet, his relationship with Shettar deteriorated. Bellad followers feel Shettar and BS Yediyurappa are to blame for his lack of a cabinet slot.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi is believed to have backed Bellad and lobbied the party’s high command to include him in the cabinet. Shettar, on the other hand, was opposed to his joining the government. According to party sources, Shettar’s opposition was motivated by a variety of reasons.
Shettar is still upset that he did not get another chance to become CM, and that the party’s high command did not consider him for the position despite being the state’s senior leader. Furthermore, his opinion was not sought during the party’s legislative meeting to pick a new CM, according to party insiders.
According to the source, Shettar was not even called to the stage when the new Chief Minister was announced. Sensing that he would not be appointed as a minister in the new cabinet, the former chief minister stated that he would not be a member of this administration as a face-saving measure.
Shettar, on the other hand, has not remained silent and is doing his politics from the comfort of his home. He was able to make Navalgund MLA Shankar Patil Munenkoppa, a minister in the Bommai government while keeping Bellad out. Ramesh Jarkiholi, a dissatisfied politician, not only met the former chief minister at his house but this sparked suspicion that the former CM is up to something.
