Bihar CM Nitish Kumar expressed his eagerness for the forging of an Opposition unity before the upcoming 2024 Parliament elections, stating, “I am awaiting its fruition. I have journeyed to Delhi twice and rendezvoused with all opposition leaders, including those from the Congress. The consolidation of additional opposition parties will be advantageous for all.” The Chief Minister emphasized that the establishment of Opposition unity is his objective.
In February, during his address at the national convention of the CPI (ML) in Patna, Kumar asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure less than 100 seats in Parliament if the Congress listens to him and implored the Congress leadership to promptly declare Opposition unity to confront Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
During a function held in celebration of Samrat Ashok’s birth anniversary, Nitish Kumar was questioned about his thoughts on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Lok Sabha due to his conviction and sentence by a court in Gujarat.
In response, Kumar stated that despite being in governance for 17 years and having encountered numerous cases, he has never made a statement regarding a court’s ruling and intends to maintain his silence on this matter as well. Instead, he emphasized the importance of a thorough and impartial investigation.
