On Tuesday, a builder from Belagavi was murdered. The incident occurred near Ganapathi Temple in Guruprasad Colony. Raju Mallappa Doddabannavar, 46, has been identified as the deceased.
DCP Ravindra Gadadi said the deceased sustained 18–20 heavy blows with sharp weapons and died as a result of excessive bleeding on the spot.
According to sources, Raju was driving his car early in the morning to a hospital where his wife was being treated. His car was stopped by miscreants, who hurled chilli powder at him in order to attack him. The attackers hacked him with sharp weapons, aiming at his knees and other body parts. The builder died as a result of blood loss.
The rural police have registered a case in this regard. Police expressed confidence of nabbing the accused.
