Belagavi tense after miscreants’ damage statue of Sangolli Rayanna

Belagavi: On Friday late night, a few miscreants damaged the statue of Sangolli Rayanna in Belagavi. The attackers went on a spree, damaging the windshields of several cars and police jeeps in the city.

The miscreants damaged government vehicles parked outside the lodges. Following this incident, the situation in Belagavi has become tense, and the police have imposed Section 144 within the city limits. Members of pro-Kannada organisations are expected to protest the incident in the city.

On Friday night, a group protested in the city, condemning the disfiguring of a Shivaji statue in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru. The police have taken 30 people into custody for allegedly being involved in ransacking, according to reports.
