Belagavi reports first Omicron variant case


Belagavi: A-52-year old man who returned to Belagavi from Nigeria tested positive to the Omicron variant of Covid.

The health department sources confirmed that the Belagavi man works in Nigeria and once in six months he visits the city to be with his family. He arrived in Bengaluru and he was allowed to travel to Belagavi in a flight as he was tested negative, upon his arrival his swab was once again collected at the Belagavi Airport he tested positive to the Covid on Tuesday and his genomic sequencing report arrived on Thursday and it was confirmed that he was infected with the new variant, said the sources.

The patient is availing treatment at BIMS Hospital
