Be careful while boarding an auto-rickshaw in Hubballi…


Hubballi: The Sub Urban police nabbed an auto-rickshaw driver who allegedly robbed a passenger on the outskirts of the city recently.

The accused has been identified as Abdul Faski, a resident of Hubballi. The accused robbed hotel employee Hari Mohan Bechan Mondal, a resident of Madhubani district, Bihar, on September 22 night. According to the police, Hari Mohan hired an auto-rickshaw to reach Sagar Palace Hotel on Station Road, and the accused, instead of taking him to the hotel, drove his vehicle to Timmasagar Bridge, where the accused brandished a knife and threatened him that he would stab him if he failed to handover cash and other valuables that he had. The victim handed over cash, Rs. 1,500, a mobile phone, and a Bluetooth headset.

The accused, after robbing him, left the place, leaving the victim near the bridge. The victim, with the help of locals, visited Sub Urban Police Station and lodged a complaint against the auto-rickshaw driver. The accused was arrested the next day, but it was only revealed on Sunday. Inspector Ravichandra DB led police team arrested the accused.
