Hubballi: Lord Basaveshwar statue located at Basava Vana will be shifted to Indira Glass House premises temporarily to facilitate the work of the flyover, said Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde.
He informed this in a meeting organised with Basaveshwara’s followers to decide about shifting the statue in the wake of flyover work.
He said the work of construction on the four lane flyover has gained pace, and after the rainy season, the statue would be shifted temporarily.
MLA Jagadish Shettar said that the statue would be installed there for at least two years, and once the work gets completed, the statue would be reinstalled at the Basava Vana.
Basaveshwar followers and Lingayat Mahasabha leaders said that they don’t have any objections to the shifting of the statue for the time being, but it should be reinstalled again in a grand manner after developing Basava Vana. MLA Jagdish Shettar, MLC Basavaraj Horatti, and Pradeep Shettar all agreed with this suggestion.
