Border district, Ballari which is reporting a high number of COVID cases in the last few days, the district administration has taken some tough measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner Pavankumar Malapati has ordered the closure of schools and colleges in the district till January 23. All the primary schools, high schools, residential and non-residential schools will remain closed. All the hostels and colleges will remain closed.
Cinemas, theaters, and gyms will be closed until January 31st. Entry of devotees is restricted into religious places; only the concerned person will perform the routines of the religious places, he said.
The DC ordered a revision in the night curfew timings. In the Ballari district, the night curfew begins at 8 pm in night and will be in place till 6 am in the morning.
Only 50 invitees for marriage
The DC in order has said that marriage should be attended with only 50 guests and the marriage party has to obtain prior permission from their respective Tahsildar.
Ballari city and taluk Covid positivity rates jump to 13 %
The tough decision was necessitated following a surge in the COVID positivity rate. The entire Ballari district positivity rate touched 10 percent on January 14th, which was just 0.14 percent on December 31st.
