Bagalkote: A son killed his father in Mudhol and dumped his body in a defunct bore well after chopping it into around 15 pieces, police said.
The accused has been identified as Vittal Kulali, and the deceased has been identified as Parshuram Kulali, 54. According to the police, the accused killed his father on December 6 and took his body to his farm field located near Mudhol town.
The police said that the accused, instead of burying the body, chopped it into 14–15 pieces and disposed of the parts into a defunct borewell, believing that no one would come to know about it.
Bagalkote Superintendent of Police Jayaprakash said that the accused murdered the victim in his house on December 6, when no one was there. The victim’s wife, Saraswati, approached the Mudhol police and registered a missing person case on December 11.
The police started their investigation and grew suspicious of Vittal. During the inquiry, Vittal confessed to the crime, said SP, and added that the body parts were retrieved on December 12 and preserved for DNA testing. The accused has been sent to judicial custody, and further investigation is underway.
