Bengaluru: Senior politician Ayanur Manjunath officially joined the Congress party today, along with his supporters, in Bengaluru, in the presence of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar.
Ayanur Manjunath, a veteran of the BJP, had joined the JD(S) shortly before the Assembly elections and had contested from the Shivamogga seat. However, he faced defeat in the election. He has now left the JD(S) and joined the Congress.
Ayanur stated that he wasn’t unhappy with the JD(S), but he desired to align with the Congress. Despite having the opportunity to do so, he chose to join the regional party after meeting with former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
He mentioned that he and his supporters are joining the party without any conditions and are committed to putting in efforts to secure the maximum number of seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for next year.
