A man who jumped off a three-story building and into a canal in Venice to gain social media fame is being sought by the authorities.
Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro shared footage of the incident on Twitter and described the jumper as a “tourist” and an “idiot” who deserves a “certificate of stupidity and a lot of kicks”.
The video shows the man, dressed only in his underwear, jumping almost 30 feet into a canal and emerging unscathed. The mayor has vowed to identify and report the jumper, as well as his accomplice who recorded the video. The police are also investigating how the man gained access to the rooftop of a private residential property.
